The idea of organising Gelato Day started in 2008. It was initiated by ARTGLACE - the International Association of Ice Cream Producers. We have also been celebrating it in Poland for several years now.
Ice-cream enthusiasts can benefit from special prices in ice-cream shops that have taken part in day’s celebrations. This year, the leading topic (and flavour) is Austrian chocolate. However, the organisers do not impose any selected flavours to be sold in ice-cream shops, and each future edition is to have its own theme.
The goal of the European Gelato Days is to educate clients about the differences between the ice cream bought in shops, discount markets and supermarkets and the ice cream made with traditional techniques, often in the very same ice-cream shop where it its sold.
